TERM AND CONDITIONS We must be informed of any cancellations at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the course. If we are not informed in this time, a £50.00 administration charge will be levied up to 48 hours before the commencement of the course. After this time no refunds will be given. Whilst every effort is made to avoid cancellation or postponent of courses. Shepherds Bookbinders Ltd reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course, and will endeavor to give 5 working days' notice before the start date. In these circumstances a full refund will be made, but we cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss. |

days) - Fully Booked (Cloth reback) Reserve List open One of the most usefull skills to learn if you are trying to make a living from bookbinding, this two-day course will teach you how to repair and reback cloth hardback bindings. C&G Level 2 (Unit 221) Certificate |
Non-Adhesive/Alternative style Bindings (5 days) This course is the second unit in the Level 2 C&G Certificate in Bookbinding. You will learn how to make a range of non-adhesive bindings, including a Coptic binding. For those with some bookbinding experience.

Design & Sampling (3 days) This course is for those who would like to achieve a certificate in Level 1 or 2 Bookbinding and who have no previous arts experience. You will put together a portfolio of samples relating to bookbinding, its materials and learn about colour and design.

Fully Booked - Repairing a Leather Bound Book (3 days) - Fully Booked (Leather reback) Reserve List open A mandatory assignment in the C&G Level 3 curriculum Following on from cloth rebacking, this course will teach you the skills involved in sympathetically rebacking a leather book. These two courses combine as a mandatory assignment for the C&G Level 3 Diploma in Bookbinding.

Two-day Beginners Bookbinding course In this fun two day course you will explore single section bindings using The Art of the Book to produce a quarter binding which gives you instructions on how to make the binding. You will then move on to making a half binding and a soft pamphlet stitch binding. A great introduction to the fundamentals of bookbinding techniques. You will be guided through all the processes step by step.

C&G Level 3 Diploma |
Library Style Binding (2 days) A mandatory assignment in the C&G Level 3 curriculum. When books are likely to be used a great deal, or have a very heavy textlock library style binding will ensure greater durability and strength than a standard hardback case binding. During this course you will make a multi-section binding with split boards, hollow spine, cloth-jointed endpapers and reinforced corners all characteristics of a library style binding.

C&G Level 3 Diploma |
Edge Decoration (1 day) Edges are another suraface for the binder's creativity to shine but they are often overlooked. They act as an important protection barrier as well as being a key design element of a fine binding. In this workshop, Kate will show you how to achieve the perfect glass smooth finish to your edges and work through a variety of decorative finishes. From basic sprinkling and sponging through graphite, marbling, paste, guffereing and gold leaf. This is an optional assignment in the C&G Level 3 curriculum.
