SPECIFICATION

A half bound leather book has leather on the spine and the corners.  The rest of the book is covered in a matching cloth or decorative paper.

As with all fine bindings, the spine is solid and has a handsewn silk headband at the top and bottom.  The edges may be left plain or gilt.

The spine can be smooth or have raised bands, and it can be lettered only, or decorated as desired. 

A half leather binding provides extra protection to the corners of the book, and is more economical in its use of leather, particularly for larger books.

This book has decorated bands and marbled paper sides.  There is also a gold line to the edges of the leather.

SPECIFICATION

This book has a full gilt spine - this includes decorated bands, gold lines, corners and centre handtools to each panel, and a gold line to the edges of the leather spine and corners on the front and back cover.
