Hugh Sheringham was an angling writer and keen fisherman of enormous reputation in the first quarter of the 20th century. He died in May 1930 before this valuable text was completed, and the book was finished by his editor, John Moore.  It was his only collaboration with his brother George. The book is comprised of a collection of work by noted anglers such as Radcliffe, Ransome, Skues, Turing and Harry Plunkett Greene and makes easy reading.

A rare first edition of a great fishing classic.

A very fine copy, the book has been rebound in dark green morocco goatskin with gilt panels to the front and back boards and the spine is decorated with fly-fishing handtools. The book has elegant green comb marbled ends and all edges are gilt. It is housed in a matching leather entry slipcase.
